A Systemic Approach to Family Mental Health
Therapeutic Support for Family Relationships and Dynamics
Family life is a complex web of conscious and unconscious interactions where the psychological well-being of each member is inextricably linked to the functioning of the family system as a whole. My approach is grounded in Systems Psychodynamic Family Therapy, a framework that explores not only how family members communicate, but the underlying emotional currents and shared anxieties that drive their behavior. We view the family as a living organism, looking beyond individual "fault" to understand the unique "dance" of relating that has been co-created over time.
In our work together, we create a "holding environment"—a secure and reflective space where the family can begin to observe and process the invisible forces that shape its reality. We focus on uncovering the unconscious dynamics and projective processes that often lead to conflict or distance. By identifying how members may unconsciously carry certain roles or emotions for the group, we work to bring clarity to the "unspoken rules" of the system. This process allows for the development of greater containment and emotional holding within the family, enabling a shift from reactive cycles to a more thoughtful and integrated way of relating.
The goal of this collaborative journey is to facilitate a profound transformation in the family’s relational climate. We strive to enhance mutual understanding and empathy by exploring the internal objects and shared fantasies that may be hindering the family’s growth. By fostering a "mindful and curious" attitude toward the system's difficulties, I assist each member in reclaiming their individual voice while strengthening the collective bond. This holistic approach empowers the family to build a foundation of long-term resilience, authenticity, and deeper, more meaningful connection.
