Psychological Insight for Complex Organizational Systems
Systems Psychodynamic Consultation
Beyond individual and group therapy, I provide specialized consultation services for NGOs, mental health organizations, and corporate institutions seeking to understand the deeper, often unconscious dynamics that influence organizational health and effectiveness. My work is grounded in the Tavistock model of systems psychodynamics, an approach that integrates systems theory with psychoanalytic insights to explore the complex interplay between structure, role, and the "organizational unconscious." I assist organizations in identifying the hidden emotional currents—such as collective anxieties, projections, and defensive patterns—that can lead to systemic paralysis, role confusion, or conflict within the workplace.
Drawing on my extensive experience consulting for NGOs and mental health providers, I view an organization as a living system where the "primary task" is often obscured by social systems as a defense against anxiety. Through a collaborative and reflective process, we examine the boundaries, authority structures, and the "organizational mind" to uncover why certain patterns of dysfunction persist despite strategic interventions. My consultation provides a "holding environment" for leadership and teams to gain clarity on enactments and parallel processes that mirror the clinical or social challenges the organization seeks to address.
The goal of systems psychodynamic consultation is to facilitate organizational resilience and role clarity. By fostering a "mindful and curious" attitude toward the institution's dynamics, I help organizations move from reactive "acting out" to a state of reflective psychological agency. This process enables teams to reclaim their primary task, harmonize their internal culture, and develop more authentic and effective ways of working together. Whether navigating periods of transition, addressing toxic dynamics, or enhancing leadership capacity, my commitment is to provide a rigorous and ethically sound framework that empowers the organization to function as a healthy, integrated, and purposeful system.
